Become a certified Lifeguard for FREE!!

Base Borden’s Community Recreation is searching for individuals interested in becoming a certified lifeguard. And the best part? Community Recreation will be offering this training absolutely free to those who are at least 16 years of age and looking to work within their team!

A lifeguard ensures the safety of all visitors through accident prevention, public education and rescue response. Becoming a lifeguard at the Buell Fitness & Aquatic Centre will enable you to become a part of a strong dedicated team. Community Recreation’s lifeguards help to maintain a safe and organized aquatic environment for their clubs and the community.

“We’re looking for eager and innovative individuals to embark on this training opportunity, and then for them to reinvest into our growing program here at CFB Borden” said Lorraine Murphy, Aquatic Coordinator. Community Recreation will also be offering a Bronze Medallion and Bronze Cross crash course at the end of August for those who require it, as these two courses are pre-requisites for the National Lifeguarding Certificate. Once the training is complete, each candidate will then become employed as a casual or part time lifeguard within PSP.

“We’re very family, military and community focused,” stated Murphy. This opportunity gives candidates a professional certification as a National Lifeguard who in turn can become employed within PSP. As a certified lifeguard, no matter where your family is living or relocated to, you are able to continue to use this professional certification all over Canada.

If you, or anyone you know is interested in becoming a lifeguard, please contact the Aquatic Coordinator, Lorraine.Murphy@forces.gc.ca or visit our kiosk at the Buell Fitness and Aquatic Centre.
