Borden appoints new BBCC Mayor

The Base Borden Community Council (BBCC) inaugurated a new Base Mayor, PO1 Christopher Denman, on 23 September.

The Base Commander nominated PO1 Denman for the role after Borden’s outgoing Mayor, Cdr Nicholas Gauthier, was posted to another base earlier this year, leaving the position vacant. 

The ceremony occurred at 1 p.m. in the auditorium of Canadian Forces Health Services Training Centre (CFHSTC), with a small audience in attendance.

Representatives from PSP, BBCC, and Base HQ were present in addition to PO1 Denman’s wife, Lori.

The event began with short speeches from both Base Commander, Col Dan Rivière, and Base Chief, CPO1 Daniel Campbell. Following this, the handover of the Chains of Office took place, where PO1 Denman accepted the appointment with gratitude. 

Owing to COVID-19 restrictions, there was no reception following the formal ceremony. Spectators followed proper mask and social distancing protocols throughout. 

The BBCC would like to extend its gratitude to the CFHSTC command team for the use of their auditorium.

Borden nomme le nouveau maire du CCBB

Le 23 septembre, le Conseil communautaire de la BFC Borden a accueilli un nouveau maire de la base, le M 1 Christopher Denman.

Le commandant de la Base a nommé le M 1 Denman au rôle à la suite du maire sortant de Borden, le Capf Nicholas Gauthier, qui a été affecté à une autre base plus tôt cette année, laissant par le fait même le poste vacant.

La cérémonie a eu lieu à 13 h dans l’auditorium du Centre d’instruction des Services de santé des Forces canadiennes (CISSFC), devant un modeste auditoire.

Les représentants des PSP, du CCBB et du QG de la Base étaient présents en plus de l’épouse du M 1 Denman, Lori.

L’activité a commencé par les allocutions du commandant de la Base, le Col Dan Rivière, et du chef de la Base, le PM 1 Daniel Campbell. Après quoi, le transfert des fonctions a eu lieu, et le M 1 Denman a accepté la nomination avec reconnaissance.

En raison des restrictions dues à la COVID-19, il n’y a pas eu de réception après la cérémonie. Les spectateurs ont respecté les protocoles d’utilisation du masque et d’éloignement sanitaire pendant toute la cérémonie.

Le CCBB aimerait exprimer sa gratitude à l’équipe de commandement du CISSFC pour lui avoir permis d’utiliser l’auditorium.
