MEDIA RELEASE – STEVENSON MEMORIAL HOSPITAL FOUNDATION

The Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation (SMHF) is celebrating the continued support of BMO Financial Group, after receiving a commitment of $430,000 towards the redevelopment of Stevenson Memorial Hospital (SMH). This brings BMO’s total giving to the Because of you, we can Campaign to nearly $500,000! Their donations have supported the most urgent needs of the hospital over the years.

Representatives from BMO were in Alliston to make the exciting announcement on October 6.

This kind of support is critical as the increasing demands on SMH continue to grow due to expanding populations, as well as the additional needs of the pandemic, putting immense pressure on this essential community resource.

“BMO is truly a leader in our community, and their long-time support is a testament to their dedication to building a healthy, vibrant community for residents of New Tecumseth, and surrounding areas,” says Jody Levac, President and CEO, SMH.  “As loyal donors, BMO understands the importance of quality health care close to home, and we are so thankful for their investment in Stevenson Memorial Hospital.”

“We are pleased to support the hospital’s campaign to upgrade equipment and expand its capabilities to meet the growing needs of the South Simcoe region,” said Wendy Cooke, Regional Vice President, Vaughan, York and Simcoe, BMO Bank of Montreal. “BMO’s Purpose is to Boldly Grow the Good in business and in life, and we recognize the importance of strong healthcare facilities in ensuring the well-being of our customers, employees and communities.”

The Because of you, we can Capital Campaign is the largest and most significant campaign in the Foundation’s history. Our bold $43 million campaign to purchase essential equipment, upgrade leading-edge technology, and complete the critical renovations is essential for this transformative redevelopment. The current hospital was built in 1964 to serve 7,000 people a year in the Emergency Department, but now serves close to 40,000 people annually.
