EPL offers community service hours for high schoolers

153

High school students in need of volunteer hours can lend a hand by collecting litter outside the Essa Public Library – one full bag will earn you 1 hour of community service.

Those interested can simply go to the circulation desk at the Angus branch of the Essa Public Library and ask for a plastic bag to collect litter from the parking lot and lawn space in and around the library, school building, food bank and arena.

The initiative came after an abundance of litter was noticed accumulating on the grounds. Essa Public Library CEO Laura Wark said they are excited to offer this opportunity to students looking to complete their community service requirements and re-establish a landscape that feels respected by everyone who uses the space.
