May this new season be…

When we see the season of spring arrive on our doorstep, it’s as if life is quietly reasserting itself after the harsh winter. It’s as if all of nature itself feels the need to be reborn and bear fruit for the greater joy of every living being on this earth.

I’m sure you’ve noticed the increasing light that is adding more brightness to our days at this time of year. It leaves us anticipating that beautiful season when all of nature’s richness and diversity will be in full flourish.

For the Canadian Armed Forces, one of our most important values is surely respect for the dignity of all persons. We show concern for the well-being of each and every person by holding the values of respect and inclusion in high regard. We can make a difference to demonstrate, once again, our sense of duty and responsibility. Let’s be open and welcoming to those we love. Let’s show them that we can be resilient in these difficult times and that we can bring the light of hope into our world today.

Spring can sometimes represent a period of expectation, and this can also be a wonderful opportunity to embark on new projects, re-examine our life priorities, or sometimes even return to the path of interiority, meditation or prayer, digging deep within ourselves to find fresh energy and resources so that we, too, can be born again and finally emerge from hibernation. We have now all been called to choose, in good conscience, the right thing to do and the right words to say, while we continue to set an example through our actions and our very lives.

May the 2022 Easter season be a catalyst for us all, giving us the strength and vitality we need to be reborn into a new season of our lives, and bringing us the hope of better days ahead for our world.
