Laforest, Dr. Jacques “Doc” Joseph, MD, CCFP March 1, 1942 – December 25, 2021
A man of faith, Jacques was called Home into the loving arms of our Lord & Saviour, on Saturday December 25, 2021 at Hospice Simcoe
Born in Alma Quebec to Gracia Morel & George Henri Laforest (both deceased) he grew up with his siblings Henriette, Christiane, Henriette & Jules (all deceased). Survived by his sister Therese Laforest of Quebec City.
Drafted into the Montreal Canadians farm system as a goaltender, Jacques left hockey to attend medical school at Laval University, Quebec City, where he continued to play goal for the Rouge et Ore.
Upon graduation Jacques was posted to CFB Borden where he spent three years before starting his private practise in Cookstown Ontario before moving to Angus Ontario where he retired after 52 years of medical practise.
A life well lived, well loved & well served, Jacques leaves behind his loving wife of 35 years, Lee Laforest. Children Jean Laforest (Wendy), Annie Laforest Nolan (Clayton), Blair Agnew (Jenn). Loving Poppy to Jadyn, Jaxxon, Kade & Gena (Gege) Laforest , Sophie Agnew & his fur babies Felix & Oscar.
Jacques loved hockey & supporting his children & grandchildren. He loved his Habs & it got interesting in the house when they played the Leafs. A lover of music & dance he was always up for a twirl with Lee in the kitchen or on the dance floor at a wedding or a party or in and out of an examination room when meeting or finishing up with a patient. Never one to meet a stranger he always made time to get to know you or to help out if he could.
It has been a long hard fought battle with Alzheimer’s disease. He did not do this alone. Sincere thank you to our family, friends, sorority family & work sisters for all your support. Many thanks to the caring medical home support staff of Debbie Foxton, RegN, Kayleigh, NP, the LHIN, Christina Privado, Shelby Kun, Shelby Maj, Bayshore Pharmacy & St. Elizabeth Health.
Sincere thank you for the care, compassion home visits & many, many talks with & from our family physician/palliative care physician Dr. Alexander Dickson & the entire staff & volunteers at Hospice Simcoe.
Donations in Jacques’s “Doc’s” memory can be made to The Alzheimer’s Society of Simcoe County, Hospice Simcoe, The Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation or charity of your choice.
