Serving as the backdrop for a ceremony marking the 102-year anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge, CFB Borden’s trenches — now a living legacy — were instrumental in training Canadian troops for Vimy and other battles during the First World War.
Gathering in the early hours of 9 April to mark this historic occasion were numerous dignitaries including (from left to right): Colonel Andrew Atherton, Honorary Colonel Jennifer Armstrong-Lehman (back), General (Ret’d) Walter Natynczyk, CWO Michael Charette; federal, provincial and municipal representatives; CAF members and other guests pay tribute to fallen soldiers during the 102-year anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge.

Les tranchées d’entraînement de la BFC Borden, maintenant un patrimoine vivant, qui servent de toile de fond à une cérémonie marquant le 102e anniversaire de la bataille de la crête de Vimy, ont joué un rôle déterminant dans l’entraînement des troupes canadiennes pour la bataille de Vimy et d’autres batailles de la Première Guerre mondiale.
Au petit matin du 9 avril, de nombreux dignitaires se sont rassemblés pour souligner cet événement historique.
