Launched in 2019, Operation VetBuild is a Legion Operational Stress Injury Special Section (Legion OSI) program created for still serving or retired CAF veterans. Members get together with their peers to build scale-models, take part in table-top gaming and just have fun. It’s a chance to learn new skills and reduce stress in a supportive environment.
“I was missing the camaraderie of getting together and chatting,” said Jason Salo, a retired reservist and military policeman.
The program is open to all CAF members and their immediate family. Legion membership is not required. There are groups across the country and members can vary their activities based on local interests.
Some locations are still dealing with pandemic restrictions but the nearest group to Borden is currently in Ajax. Any interested member from the Borden community can start up a group locally by getting in touch with organizers by emailing ovb@bsovetsosi.com.
More information on upcoming sessions and locations is available on the Operation VetBuild Facebook page.
