During this symbolic presentation, the Commander of Military Personnel Command (MPC) Lieutenant-General (LGen) Lamarre and Deputy Commander Military Personnel Generation (MPG), Brigadier-General (BGen) Tattersall dedicated the flag to CFLTC inviting Commander Turcotte, Commandant CFLTC and the training establishment Regimental Sergeant Major, Chief Warrant Officer St-Laurent to accept this distinct honour on behalf of the Training Establishment. The display cases contain the RCLS Relay Flag, photos from the year’s events, trade badges from all logistics trades and other important pieces of memorabilia from the National Flag Relay. / Au cours de cette présentation symbolique, le commandant du Commandement du personnel militaire (CPP), le lieutenant-général Lamarre, et le commandant adjoint de la Génération du personnel militaire (GPM), le brigadier-général Tattersall, ont confié le drapeau au CILFC et ont invité le commandant Turcotte, commandant du CILFC, et l’adjudant-chef St-Laurent, sergent major régimentaire de l’établissement d’instruction, à accepter cet insigne honneur au nom de l’établissement d’instruction. On 1 February 2019 Canadian Forces Logistics Training Centre (CFLTC) hosted the national closing ceremony for the 50th Anniversary of the Royal Canadian Logistics Service (RCLS), the designated Year of the Logistician. As part of the celebrations, the RCLS National Relay Flag, which traversed the globe by air, land and sea over the past year, was entrusted into the care of the CFLTC, the bastion of Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) logisticians, during an informal unveiling ceremony at CFLTC HQ.
As the Senior Logistician within the CAF, LGen Lamarre reflected on the importance of logistics to the CAF; emphasizing the fact that the CAF is the only military of its size, which provides a footprint around the world for both domestic and foreign operations, a capability which relies on superior logistics.
Among the notable events during the flag’s journey included visits to CFB Borden, where CFLTC supported Colonel Bruce Johnson, the RCLS Integrator to ‘jumpstart’ the regional events with a tandem jump with the ceremonial flag, assisted by the SkyHawks. Other events included an anniversary mess dinner, the dedication of a commemorative plaque signed by LGen Lamarre, a trade show, photo contest, and the “Amazing Log Race.” Borden was also home to the renowned “LOGGIE 50” photo which came to represent the year’s events through merchandise branded with this image.
The impressive display holds pride-of-place in the lounge where it has attracted the interest of the staff, students and visitors who see it on a daily basis. The Commandant, Regimental Sergeant Major, staff and students of CFLTC are honoured to have been entrusted with this important link between the past and future of our Branch. Le 1er février 2019, le Centre d’instruction de logistique des Forces canadiennes (CILFC) a été l’hôte de la cérémonie de clôture nationale du 50e anniversaire du Service royal de la logistique du Canada (SRLC) : l’Année des logisticiens. Dans le cadre des célébrations, le drapeau national du SRLC, qui a parcouru le monde par voies aérienne, terrestre et maritime au cours de la dernière année, a été confié au bastion des logisticiens des Forces armées canadiennes (FAC), lors d’une cérémonie de dévoilement officieuse au QG du CILFC.
En tant que logisticien principal des FAC, le Lgén Lamarre a souligné l’importance de la logistique pour les FAC, insistant sur le fait qu’il s’agit de la seule force militaire de cette taille présente à l’échelle du monde pour mener des opérations nationales et internationales, une capacité qui exige des services de logistique de très grande qualité.
Parmi les événements marquants du relais du drapeau, on compte des visites à la BFC Borden, où le CILFC a aidé le colonel Bruce Johnson, intégrateur du SRLC, à « lancer » les activités régionales en effectuant un saut en tandem avec le drapeau, en compagnie des SkyHawks. Au cours de l’année, d’autres activités ont eu lieu, dont un dîner militaire, le dévoilement de la plaque commémorative signée par le Lgén Lamarre, un salon professionnel, un concours de photos et l’incroyable « course des logisticiens ». C’est également à la BFC Borden qu’on a affiché la fameuse photo « LOGGIE 50 », qui est devenue le symbole des célébrations et des activités de l’année et qui a été associée aux articles promotionnels.
Cette photo exceptionnelle trône fièrement dans la salle de repos, où elle capte chaque jour l’attention des employés, des stagiaires et des visiteurs. Le commandant, le sergent-major régimentaire, l’état-major et les stagiaires du CILFC sont honorés qu’on leur ait confié ce lien important entre le passé et l’avenir de notre service.
