Many may not be aware, but there is a community treasure located outside of the Essa Public Library’s Angus Branch. On June 4, a group of volunteers from the community, along with library staff, planted a vegetable garden along the exterior side of the building, as well as three more planters across the parking lot next to the food bank. The garden includes tomatoes of various sizes, squash, beans, peas, and much more. A special thank you is extended to Glenn Crandlemire for volunteering his time to weed and make the garden look as fantastic as it does now. However, volunteers like Glenn would appreciate your help. Patrons are welcome to help themselves to the produce, but in the spirit of community, when you take something, it is appreciated if you give back a little bit. Stopping to pull a weed or two makes all the difference in maintaining this wonderful resource.
