The Junior Ranks Mess committee put the fun in fundraising, hosting a drag bingo event in support of Soldier On.

Held on Saturday 28 January, the event was open to Jr Ranks members and the Borden Pride Network, with anyone falling into those groups also able to bring a guest.

“We had a former employee who is a performer with the Haus of Devereaux who was involved with the last drag bingo and it was so much fun,” said Leanne McCullough, Mess Manager of Huron Club, Junior Ranks Mess. “It’s something different and not a lot of the younger members have been exposed to an event like this before.”

The event definitely drew a crowd, with performances by E’Claire Devereaux, Athena Vegas, Carmen Del Rae and Jemm Doshay of the Haus of Devereaux. Proceeds raised over $500 for Soldier On, a Canadian Armed Forces program that supports the recovery of ill and injured CAF members and veterans through sports, recreation and creative activities.

“I would like to highlight how proud we are to contribute to Soldier on,” said Master Corporal Ray Huynh, President of the Mess Committee (PMC) for the Junior Ranks Mess. “Additionally, I must thank the queens for volunteering their time and money to drive up to CFB Borden and for their extravagant performances.”
