International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (IDERD)

The International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (IDERD) is observed annually on 21 March.

On that day in 1960, police opened fire at a peaceful demonstration in Sharpeville, South Africa, against the apartheid pass laws; 69 people were killed, and 180 were injured.

The United Nations established IDERD in 1966 to commemorate the Sharpeville Massacre to bring the world community together to increase its efforts in the elimination of all forms of racial discrimination and racism.

Please join us with our guest speaker, Kevin Junor, a retired Canadian Armed Forces member, and let’s have an open discussion on Racism and Inclusivity within the CAF.
