With over 90 players participating in the competition, the tournament was a great success with many prizes won and both golfers and sponsors looking forward to next year’s event
Golfers had loads of fun at the second annual Borden Citizen Golf Tournament on 24 August at the beautiful Base Borden Club; even a bit of rain couldn’t deter anyone from the day’s festivities.
[ngg src=”galleries” ids=”23″ display=”basic_slideshow”]The purpose of the event was to raise awareness about the Borden Citizen, which is a significant part of Base Borden. The Borden Citizen is a communication tool that keeps the community up to date on what happens on the Base. It is also used by the Base Commander to inform the public and members about critical information concerning the base and related activities. Additionally, the event helped generate support for the local Canadian Forces appreciation program which provides local discounts to help Canadian Armed Forces members and their families deal with military hardships.
Golfers could take advantage of the many free samples offered by a variety of sponsors throughout the golf course. A game run by the Borden Citizen involved golfers trying to hit marshmallows as far as they could with a golf club. A prize was awarded to the person who hit a marshmallow the furthest.
There were several door prizes to be given including gift cards, hotel stays and even a luxury Traeger grill, with a value over $1,800. While many golfers left with great prizes in hand, those who didn’t still left smiling.
The Borden Citizen would like to thank all the generous sponsors for the invaluable support of the golf tournament including BMO, Muskoka Brewery, Water Depot, Kenzington, Traeger, Bayside Variety, the Osborn Goddard Team, Rally, Landshark, 107.5 Kool FM, Comfort Inn, Rock 95, Mortgage Wellness, Rio Can, Barnstormers, Webers, Red Bull, Walton Financial and Jack Astor’s Barrie.
A special thank you also extends to the platinum sponsor of the event Canadian Tire Alliston and the gold sponsor of the event Maidens Family Auto Care. The success of the event would not have been possible without your contributions. Furthermore, your contributions will help the Borden Citizen remain a communication tool and community resource for Base Borden. Thank you for providing the community with a memorable experience. Your commitment to the Borden Citizen and Base Borden is truly appreciated. We look forward to continuing a strong relationship with all sponsors in the future. Finally, we would like to thank all the golfers who participated and supported the tournament. We hope to see you on the green next year!
