Cadets from the 2408 Canadian Forces Logistic Training Centre – Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps (RCACC) were proud to receive a new cap badge from Lieutenant-Colonel (LCol) Shawn Courty, Commandant of the Canadian Forces Logistics Training Centre (CFLTC) at CFB Borden.
The re-badging formally allows cadets to wear the badge of the Canadian Forces Logistics Branch. Previously cadets wore the badge of the Royal Canadian Army Cadets. The re-badging also formally recognizes the CFLTC’s support of the Cadet Program and its motto “ACER ACERPORI”, which can be translated as “As the Maple, so the Sapling”.
“This badge is a symbol of the formal commitment to the development of you cadets as leaders in the community, and as a symbol that you are considered part of our Logistics extended family,” LCol Courty, a member of the Air Cadets as a youth, told the cadets during the ceremony.
Major (Maj) Darren Hodskins, Commanding Officer of the 2408 CFLTC – RCACC Cadets, recognizes that wearing the cap badge of the Canadian Forces Logistics Branch is an honour for the cadets and, “reinforces the strong connection between the Cadet Program and Canadian Forces in developing youth leaders in the community and potential Force members.”
The Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps is the oldest youth organization in Canada, tracing its origin to 1862. Currently the Cadet Program is the largest federally sponsored program in Canada for youth aged 12-18 years old, with approximately 70,000 members.
The aim of the Cadet Program is to develop leadership, citizenship, fitness, and community service skills with the support of the Canadian Armed Forces.
The 2408 CFLTC Cadets meet every Thursday evening from 1830-2130 hrs at Building E-41, 135 Ortona Road, CFB Borden. There is no cost to join the Cadet Program.
