Being a member of the Canadian Armed Forces shows the dedication of a citizen to their country; some members of the CAF go above and beyond by showing dedication to their communities as well.
On Nov. 9, Sergeant Lindsey Robichaud, a Medical Technician Instructor at the Canadian Forces Health Services Training Center (CFHSTC), was recognized for this dedication by being awarded the “Military Service Above Self” award by the Rotary Clubs of Barrie, Huronia and Kempenfelt. The award is presented to a CFB Borden member that demonstrates dedication to their community through assistance to individuals and charitable causes in both the military and civilian communities.
The award was presented to Sgt Robichaud during the annual Tri-Rotary Club Remembrance Day Luncheon by Mr. Dan Mallory, President of the Barrie Rotary Club. Sgt Robichaud received a certificate and a $1000 donation to a charity of her choice, in this case the Barrie Food Bank.
Sgt Robichaud, a fourteen year member of the CAF, is greatly involved in Borden and regional communities through her charity work. In addition to dedicating time to her students as an instructor, she volunteers with the Juno Beach Mess Committee as Housing Representative and member of the Entertainment Committee, along with various base events such as the CFB Borden Family Welcome Day in the Teddy Bear Hospital. Outside of the military, she dedicates much of her free time to charitable causes such as the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation and the Canadian Cancer Society.
“Sgt Robichaud’s service to her community demonstrates the best of what the Canadian Forces Health Services strives for; caring for our families, comrades and community. She is well deserving of this honour,” Commander Nic Gauthier, Commandant of CFHSTC said.
Acting CFB Borden Commander, Lieutenant Colonel O’Leary stated that, “Sgt Robichaud has displayed an incredible dedication to her overall military family and local community. She is an exemplary role model and greatly merits with award.”

Le fait d’être membre des Forces armées canadiennes (FAC) témoigne du dévouement d’un citoyen à l’égard de son pays; certains membres des FAC vont au-delà et montrent leur dévouement à l’égard de leurs communautés. Le 9 novembre, le sergent Lindsey Robichaud, une instructrice en soins médicaux au Centre d’instruction des Services de santé des Forces canadiennes (CISSFC), a été reconnue pour ce dévouement en se voyant décerner le prix militaire « Servir d’abord » des clubs Rotary de Barrie, Huronia et Kempenfelt. Le prix est remis à un membre de la base des Forces canadiennes (BFC) Borden qui a fait preuve de dévouement envers sa communauté en aidant des personnes et des causes de bienfaisances dans les communautés militaire et civile.
Le prix a été remis au sergent Robichaud dans le cadre du dîner du Jour du souvenir des trois clubs Rotary par M. Dan Mallory, président du club Rotary de Barrie. Le sergent Robichaud a reçu un certificat et un don de 1 000 $ a été versé à un organisme de bienfaisance de son choix, dans ce cas-ci, la banque alimentaire de Barrie.
Le sergent Robichaud, membre des FAC depuis quatorze ans, joue un rôle important dans les communautés de Borden et de la région grâce à son bénévolat. En plus de consacrer de son temps à ses étudiants en tant qu’instructrice, elle est bénévole pour le comité du mess Juno Beach en tant que représentante du logement et membre du comité des divertissements, et participe à diverses activités organisées à la Base, comme la journée d’accueil des familles à la BFC Borden à l’hôpital des nounours. À l’extérieur du monde militaire, elle consacre la majeure partie de ses temps libres à des œuvres de bienfaisance comme la Fondation canadienne des maladies du cœur et la Société canadienne du cancer.
« Le service que rend le sergent Robichaud à sa communauté représente le meilleur de ce que les Services de santé des Forces canadiennes s’efforcent d’accomplir : prendre soin de nos familles, de nos camarades et de notre communauté. Elle mérite plus qu’amplement ce prix », a indiqué le commandant Nic Gauthier, commandant du CISSFC.
Le commandant intérimaire de la base, le lieutenant-colonel O’Leary, a indiqué que « Le sergent Robichaud a fait preuve d’un dévouement incroyable envers sa grande famille militaire et sa communauté locale. Elle est un modèle exemplaire à suivre et mérite grandement ce prix. »
Le CISSFC félicite le sergent Robichaud d’avoir reçu cet honneur.
