Burn Ban Continues in Essa

TOWNSHIP OF ESSA – MEDIA RELEASE

UTOPIA, ON – April 7, 2020 – The public is hereby notified that the Burn Ban issued on March 17, 2020 by the Township of Essa’s Fire Chief is still in effect and will remain in effect until the COVID-19 Emergency has been terminated.

The Burn Ban was put in place in an effort to reduce the response time required by the Fire Department in reacting to complaints from the public, to allow the Fire Department to balance their responses to those in need with current COVID-19 protocols. Every effort is being made to protect the public, volunteer firefighters and staff.

What does that mean to residents?

  • NO BURN PERMITS ARE AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE AT THIS TIME.
  • RESIDENTS THAT HAVE ALREADY PURCHASED A BURN PERMIT FOR 2020 ARE NOT PERMITTED TO BURN UNTIL THE BURN BAN HAS BEEN LIFTED.
  • NO OPEN AIR FIRES ARE PERMITTED AT THIS TIME.

The municipality appreciates the public’s patience, cooperation and understanding during the COVID-19 Emergency
