CFB Borden Commander Colonel Jonathan Michaud rolled up his sleeve at the Base Flu Shot Clinic this October. He also received his COVID-19 booster shot, and had this message to share with the Borden Defence Team:

Fall is here and winter is just around the corner, which means that the flu season is also upon us. Once again, we are asking for your help to stop the spread of infections in our communities as well as continue to protect yourself, your families, and those around you. By receiving your annual flu vaccine, you can better protect yourself and others from getting the flu or reducing its symptoms and severity if you do happen to contract it.

At the same time, I strongly encourage all CAF members and public service employees to receive a COVID-19 bivalent booster shot. The booster will also, similar to the flu shot, help keep Defence Team members and their families healthy, protect vulnerable Canadians, reduce the burden on our health care systems and ensure our force remains operationally ready to be called upon when needed. It is important to note that it is safe for individuals over six months of age to get both the flu and the COVID-19 vaccines.

Doing this simple act shows a dedication to the wider community and promotes a healthier environment for us all to work in. Protect yourself. Protect others.
