PSA: Military training in Barrie and Owen Sound, Ont.

Military training in Barrie and Owen Sound, Ont.
February 21, 2024 – Ottawa – National Defence / Canadian Armed Forces

Residents of Barrie and Owen Sound, who live near Barrie and Tommy Holmes, VC Memorial armouries, are advised that personnel from the Canadian Special Operations Forces Command (CANSOFCOM) will be conducting training with Primary Reserve Force personnel from February 22 to 26, 2024.

Residents may notice an increase in uniformed military personnel with personal weapons and hear noises associated with small arms fire at the Barrie Armoury on February 24 and 25, 2024, during daylight hours. Only blank ammunition will be used at this location.

CANSOFCOM thanks the surrounding community and residents, as well as the Canadian Army Reserve force members, for their cooperation and support of training that directly enables the execution of operations around the world.
