Will you walk to help homeless animals in our community?

Chloe is one of many abandoned animals flooding ADHS this year. The adorable, friendly 2-year-old bulldog is in need of an expensive orthopedic surgery to correct a knee condition. After the surgery, Chloe will regain her mobility and start life in her furever home. (Photo submitted)

The Alliston & District Humane Society (ADHS) is hosting the Woof Walk on Saturday, 10 June at the ADHS Shelter for a fun-filled day.

Funds raised will support homeless animals in our community. ADHS is currently experiencing a skyrocketing number of abandonments, strays, and owner surrenders since the beginning of this year—a number that has increased by 400 per cent since January 2022.

Many of the animals coming into the shelter have major medical issues, such as cancer, heart disease, diabetes, and orthopedic and mobility issues. The Woof Walk even will help cover the costs of treating these animals. To date, they have raised $8,480 towards their $15,000 goal.

You can support by forming or joining a team and fundraising, or by donating to an existing team. If you can’t make it to the event, you are invited to participate virtually by posting a photo of yourself walking on social media with #ADHSWoofWalk on the day of the event. In addition to the walk, enjoy a free barbecue, dog games and a dog agility course, a pet photo booth, door prizes, and more.

Help animals like Chloe

Chloe is one of many abandoned animals flooding ADHS this year. The adorable, friendly 2-year-old bulldog is in need of an expensive orthopedic surgery to correct a knee condition. After the surgery, Chloe will regain her mobility and start life in her furever home.

ADHS has many more dogs like Chloe who have been abandoned or surrendered and require medical care. The community is invited to participate in this event to help raise money for Chloe’s much-needed surgery, and give so many more animals a second chance at life.
