On 13 May, Colonel Lysane Martel assumed the duties of Commander of 16 Wing Headquarters from Colonel Pascal Godbout during a virtual change of command ceremony presided over by Brigadier-General Denis O’Reilly, 2 Canadian Air Division Commander.
Colonel Godbout, who was promoted to the rank of Brigadier-General and assigned command of Joint Task Force North in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, had served as the commander for 16 Wing since July 2018. He addressed 16 Wing for the last time as the Wing Commander, thanking everyone for their support, stating “The last three years as the Commander of 16 Wing has been amazing and it has really been a privilege to serve with such a great team. The staff and students at 16 Wing exemplify our motto ‘To learn, To perfect, To Excel.’”
16 Wing saw further changes to its command team on 11 July during a Change of Appointment ceremony at 16 Wing headquarters. The ceremony, presided over by 16 Wing Commander, Lysane Martel, marked the passing of appointment of the 16 Wing Chief Warrant Officer from CWO Lisa Harvey to CWO Geoff Rusconi.
Chief Warrant Officer Harvey, having served as 16 Wing CWO since June 2018, thanked all of 16 Wing in her address. “It has been a pleasure, a privilege and an honour to serve with you. Have a great RCAF (Royal Canadian Air Force) day. Sic itur ad astra, such is the pathway to the stars.”
La 16e Escadre voit des changements à l’équipe de commandement
Le 13 mai dernier, le colonel Lysane Martel est entrée en fonctions comme commandant du quartier général de la 16e Escadre, en remplacement du colonel Pascal Godbout, lors d’une cérémonie virtuelle de passation de commandement présidée par le brigadier-général Denis O’Reilly, commandant de la 2e Division aérienne du Canada.
Le colonel Godbout, qui a été promu au grade de brigadier-général et qui a pris le commandement de la Force opérationnelle interarmées (Nord) à Yellowknife, dans les Territoires du Nord-Ouest, a servi comme commandant de la 16e Escadre depuis juillet 2018. Il s’est adressé à la 16e Escadre pour la dernière fois comme commandant pour remercier chacun de son soutien. Il a dit : « Les trois dernières années comme commandant de la 16e Escadre ont été extraordinaires, et c’était un privilège de servir aux côtés d’une équipe aussi fantastique. Le personnel et les stagiaires de la 16e Escadre illustrent pleinement notre devise « Apprendre, parfaire, exceller ».
La 16e Escadre a également vécu d’autres changements à son équipe de commandement le 11 juillet lors de la cérémonie de passation des fonctions à son quartier général. La cérémonie, présidée par le commandant de la 16e Escadre, Lysane Martel, marquait le transfert des fonctions d’adjudant-chef de l’Escadre entre l’Adjuc Lisa Harvey et l’Adjuc Geoff Rusconi.
L’Adjuc Harvey, qui a occupé le poste d’adjudant-chef de la 16e Escadre depuis juin 2018, a remercié la 16e Escadre dans son discours. « Cela a été un plaisir, un privilège et un honneur de servir avec vous. Passez une bonne journée de l’ARC (Aviation royale canadienne). Sic itur ad astra – telle est la voie vers les étoiles. »
