CFMTC Announces August Concert

Open to the public and members, join the CFMTC for an afternoon of original music

The Canadian Forces Music Training Centre (CFMTC) is hosting a free public concert featuring music from the Wind Band as well as Pipes and Drums. This Thursday, August 3rd, 2023 at 1400 hrs at the Waterloo Officers’ Mess (32 Caen Cir, Borden, ON).

The Canadian Forces Music Training Centre is the training establishment for musicians of the Canadian Forces. Each summer, reservist musicians from across Canada travel to CFB Borden to complete their occupational training. This concert serves as a culmination and confirmation of their efforts while on course.

One of the highlights of the concert will be the performance of two works of original music for Wind Band by Canadian composers. The first piece, Intrinsic Light by Waterloo-based composer Cait Nishimura, commissioned by the Ontario Band Association in celebration of the Ontario Music Educators Association’s 100th anniversary. The second, Stardust Dunes, is a vivid depiction of the bright Perseid Meteor Shower being reflected of the beach sands of PEI as experienced by Toronto-based composer E.K.R. Hammell.
