National Child Day 2023

In 1993, the Government of Canada designated November 20th as National Child Day to commemorate two historical United Nation events: the adoption of the Declaration of the Rights of the Child on November 20, 1959 and the adoption of the Convention on the Rights of the Child on November 20, 1989. National Child Day celebrates the value of children, it is a day to listen to, respect and marvel at all they have to offer. It’s a day to rejoice that children bring special meaning to our lives, how they are competent, capable, curious, and rich in potential and hope they inspire for the future!

Ideas for celebrating National Child’s Day with your children:

  • Tell your child how important they are;
  • Prepare your childhood favourite meal or treat for you family;
  • Read a favorite storybook together;
  • Cook a celebration dinner to enjoy as a family;
  • Look at family photos, including past generations;
  • Share moments of your childhood with your children;
  • Connect virtually with family member to share their fondest memory of their childhood with your children;
  • Send toys, clothing or books to children in need;
  • Create an “All About Me” book with your child.

On behalf of the Borden Family Resource Centre we would like to wish all children a healthy, happy National Child’s Day!
